What You Need to Know About the Newly Updated Park Entry Fees

New KWS Park Fees Take Effect on, October 1, 2025.

We have been closely following the gazettement of the Wildlife Conservation and Management (Access, Entry and Conservation) (Fees) Regulations 2025. This means that any new bookings for KWS parks (like Nairobi National Park, Amboseli, and Lake Nakuru) made for October 1st, 2025, onwards will reflect the revised charges. For non-residents, the fee for premium parks like Amboseli and Lake Nakuru is set to increase.

For example, our iconic Nairobi National Park has seen a fee adjustment, reflecting its status as the world’s only capital city national park. Likewise, Amboseli National Park, home to the majestic ‘Big Tuskers’ and offering the most breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro, is adjusting its rates.

Chariot Safaris’ assurance: If your existing booking was paid through the eCitizen platform before this announcement, those rates will be honored.✨ For all future planning, rest assured that your customized package will reflect these necessary conservation contributions accurately.

The Maasai Mara National Reserve and the Great Wildebeest Migration

The Maasai Mara National Reserve—a name synonymous with Africa’s raw spectacle—offers incredible wildlife viewing year-round. However, the global spectacle of the Wildebeest Migration sees the Mara Plains come alive:

  • Peak Migration Season (July – October): This is the high-stakes drama. The air is electric with anticipation as millions of wildebeest and zebra complete their journey from the Serengeti, culminating in the heart-stopping Mara River crossing. The sheer volume of wildlife is astounding, attracting predators like the cheetah and lion, making this the prime time for a great migration safari in Kenya Safaris. Non-resident entry into the main reserve is at the high season rate from July 1st to December 31st.
  • Low Season (January – June): This “green season” brings lush landscapes, fantastic birdwatching, and the joy of seeing new-born calves. Game viewing is still excellent, as resident animals like leopard and elephant are plentiful. Parks are quieter, offering a more exclusive feel.

Amboseli National Park: Land of the Big Tuskers

Located at the foot of Africa’s highest peak, Mount Kilimanjaro, Amboseli is famed for its large elephant herds and panoramic vistas. The dry season (June–October and January–February) is ideal here, as wildlife clusters around the few remaining water sources, making for superb sightings.

Tsavo East & West: The Man-Eaters’ Legacy and Volcanic Majesty

These twin parks offer distinct adventures. Tsavo East is known for its rolling plains and the famous ‘red-dust’ elephants, while Tsavo West offers more diverse scenery, including the volcanic Mzima Springs—a true oasis for hippo and crocodiles. Excellent year-round viewing, though the dry months mean animals are less dispersed.

Your Comfort, Our Priority: The Essential Kenya Safari Kit

A Chariot Safaris journey means your focus is solely on the beauty unfolding outside your vehicle. To ensure your absolute comfort, here are a few essential items:

  1. Lightweight, Layered Clothing: The African morning can be chilly, heating up quickly by midday. Pack neutral colors (khaki, green, beige) that blend into the environment and are easily layered. Avoid bright colors and camouflage prints.
  2. Essential Gear: High-quality binoculars are a non-negotiable must-have for intimate wildlife viewing. A wide-brimmed hat, high-factor sunscreen, and reliable insect repellent (especially with DEET) will protect you.
  3. Footwear: Comfortable, closed walking boots for any light bush walks, and sandals for relaxing at your lodge.
  4. Photography: Plenty of memory cards! The visual drama of a Kenya Safaris requires more storage than you imagine.
  5. Soft Luggage: If your journey involves an internal flight, remember the strict weight limits (often 15kg/33lbs) and the necessity of soft-sided bags.

A critical reminder: Kenya has banned all single-use plastic bags. Please use transparent, reusable toiletry bags for carry-on liquids.
