Lake Naivasha sits close enough to Nairobi that you can leave after a slow breakfast and be watching hippos surface by mid-afternoon — yet far enough that the city falls away completely. An hour north, Lake Nakuru’s alkaline shallows draw flamingos by the thousand and shelter both black and white rhino. Together they make a compact, scenic loop built for two. But even a short escape has its friction:
The right lakeside property, chosen for privacy rather than volume.
A private boat out on Naivasha at the hour the light is worth it.
A game drive into Nakuru that doesn’t feel like a detour.
The small romantic touches — a sundowner, a quiet dinner — that don’t arrange themselves.
Organise all of that yourself and a weekend becomes an itinerary to manage. Hand it to us and it stays two days of being somewhere else, together.
Chariot Safaris coordinates the complete Naivasha & Nakuru escape from Nairobi. We handle the transport, the accommodation, and the private experiences, working only with lakeside properties and boat operators we’ve vetted personally. You pick your dates. We take care of the rest.
This is a fixed two-person escape, so price varies by season rather than group size — travel in low/standard season and the rate is at its lowest.
Season Price per couple
Standard KES 78,000 | Full experience, any non-festive date
Festive / peak periods KES 82,500 | Easter, public holidays, December peak
Price covers 2 nights’ accommodation, private transport, breakfast and dinner, one private boat excursion, and one Lake Nakuru game drive. Lake Nakuru park entry fees are quoted separately at booking, as they’re set by KWS and subject to change. For a specific travel date, message us for a confirmed quote.
Two lakes, one relaxed loop. Every stop is arranged around the two of you.
Day One — Down to the lake
Private transfer from Nairobi with a stop at the Rift Valley viewpoint. Arrive at Lake Naivasha for lunch. In the afternoon, a private boat excursion on the lake — hippos, fish eagles, and the light on the water — followed by a lakeside sundowner.
Day Two — Flamingos at Nakuru
A morning drive to Lake Nakuru National Park for a private game drive: flamingo-lined shores, rhino, and the Baboon Cliff view. Return to Naivasha for a relaxed evening — a lakeshore horseback ride at dusk is a popular add-on here.
Day Three — One last morning
A slow lakeside breakfast, a final walk by the water, and a private transfer back to Nairobi.
Not sure this is the right pace? Tell us what you’re celebrating and how much downtime you want, and we’ll adjust the balance between driving, activities, and simply sitting still.
We handle transport, accommodation, and the private experiences — but a few things are yours to bring:
Light layers for warm days and cool lakeside evenings
Comfortable walking shoes
Sunglasses, sunscreen, and a hat
Binoculars if you have them — the birdlife rewards it
Camera or phone
Personal medication and toiletries
Something a little nicer for the private dinner
A note on timing: mornings on the water are calmest and coolest — we schedule the boat excursion for early hours where possible, and reroute around wind if conditions on the lake aren’t right.
