Hell’s Gate is one of the very few national parks in Africa where you are permitted to cycle among wildlife. No predators of concern means no vehicle between you and the plains — you ride past zebras, giraffes, buffaloes and warthogs beneath red cliffs and geothermal steam vents. And it is simple, once you’re on the bike. The friction is everything that comes before the gate:
Organise all of that yourself and a brilliant ride becomes a scramble at the gate. Hand it to us and it stays a morning cycling through the Rift Valley.
Chariot Safaris coordinates complete Hell’s Gate cycling packages from Nairobi. We handle the movement, the park entry, the bike reservations, and the guiding, working only with guides we have vetted personally. You pick your route and your date. We take care of the rest.
Hell’s Gate rewards company, so the more of you there are, the better the per-person rate. Guiding and transport are shared across the group, which is why larger parties pay less per head.
| Group size | Price per person | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| 1–2 cyclists | KES 12,500 | Private, personalised day out |
| 3–4 cyclists | KES 9,500 | Friends, couples, small families |
| 5–8 cyclists | KES 6,000 | Clubs, teams, small cohorts |
| 9–16 cyclists | KES 5,000 | Institutions, corporate team-building |
Prices cover transport, park entry, bike hire, and guiding. Gorge walk guide fees, combined activities, and overnight camping are quoted separately. For groups above 16, or for a school, corporate, or institutional booking, message us for a tailored quote.
However you ride, the package covers the parts that turn a cycle into a day out:
Add-ons available on request: guided gorge walk, Lake Naivasha boat excursion, Mount Longonot hike, and picnic arrangements inside the park.
To keep the pricing honest, here’s what sits outside the package unless you ask for it:
The park runs from Elsa Gate down toward the gorge, and there’s more than one way to ride it. We run all three — the right one depends on your group, your fitness, and what kind of day you’re after.
Elsa Gate to Central Tower — the classic
The main circuit, and the one most people picture. It runs flat and open past Fischer’s Tower through grazing plains, with the cliffs rising either side. Manageable for anyone with reasonable fitness and the best wildlife density in the park. This is our default recommendation for first-timers and mixed groups.
Full circuit to the gorge — the adventurous one
The complete run to Hell’s Gate Gorge, then a walk down into the sculpted channels and hot springs before cycling back. Longer, with a proper climb on the return leg, and the day that gives you the most of the park. Best for confident cyclists with reasonable fitness.
Short loop — the easy one
The gentlest option, turning back before the long uphill stretches. Shorter and less demanding, and the natural choice for families, casual riders, or anyone easing back into cycling. The wildlife viewing on the flat opening stretch is the same.
Not sure which fits? Tell us who’s coming and their fitness level, and we’ll recommend the route that suits the group.
We handle transport, entry, bikes, and guiding — but a few things are yours to bring:
Dress in comfortable layers — the morning is cool and the plains heat up fast once the sun is high.
