Horse riding in Naivasha is the rare wildlife experience where nothing separates you from the plains. Zebras don’t scatter from a horse the way they scatter from a vehicle, so you ride among them at their own pace, close enough to hear them. And it is simple, once you’re in the saddle. The friction is everything that comes before the stable yard:
Organise all of that yourself and a beautiful morning becomes a phone-call marathon. Hand it to us and it stays a ride across open country.
Chariot Safaris coordinates complete horse riding packages from Nairobi. We handle the movement, the stable booking, and the timing, working only with yards we have vetted personally. You pick your duration and your date. We take care of the rest.
Naivasha rewards company, so the more of you there are, the better the per-person rate. Transport is shared across the group, which is why larger parties pay less per head.
| Group size | Price per person | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| 1–2 riders | KES 13,000 | Private, personalised day out |
| 3–4 riders | KES 11,000 | Friends, couples, small families |
| 5–8 riders | KES 8,000 | Clubs, teams, small cohorts |
| 9–16 riders | KES 7,500 | Institutions, corporate team-building |
Prices cover return transport, a one-hour guided ride, and coordination. Two-hour rides, combined activities, and overnight stays are quoted separately. For groups above 16, or for a school, corporate, or institutional booking, message us for a tailored quote.
However you ride, the package covers the parts that turn an activity into a day out:
Add-ons available on request: two-hour rides, Lake Naivasha boat excursions, Crescent Island, and lunch arrangements at a lakeside camp.
To keep the pricing honest, here’s what sits outside the package unless you ask for it:
The riding grounds sit off South Lake Road, and there’s more than one yard. We work with both — the right one depends on your group, your experience, and what kind of ride you’re after.
Sanctuary Horse Riding — the wildlife one
Open grassland with the highest chance of riding alongside zebras, giraffes, antelopes and gazelles. Steady, well-schooled horses and instructors used to complete beginners. This is our default recommendation for first-timers and mixed groups.
Kichaka Horse Riding — the scenic one
A quieter yard with more varied terrain and longer sightlines toward the escarpment. Suits riders who want to move at more than a walk and groups who’d rather not share the trail. Best for confident riders.
One hour or two
The one-hour ride covers the core loop and suits beginners and anyone fitting the ride around other activities. The two-hour ride goes further into the sanctuary, sees more game, and is worth the extra if you have the day.
Not sure which fits? Tell us who’s coming and their riding experience, and we’ll recommend the yard and duration that suits the group.
We handle transport, booking, and coordination — but a few things are yours to bring:
Dress in comfortable layers — the mornings are cool and the day warms up quickly.
